Salzburg's Lungau, a good 100 kilometers from Mozart's city of Salzburg, is not only the sunniest region in Austria,
but was also awarded the “UNESCO Biosphere Park Salzburg Lungau & Carinthian Nockberge” for the magnificent natural landscape.

LUNGAUER TAUERN KRONE

The “Lungauer TAUERN KRONE” is a hiking and trail running route on existing hiking trails in the Niedere Tauern.
With a route of 108 kilometers and 8,000 meters in altitude, the Lungau TAUERN KRONE is something unique.

Whether family, hiker or trail runner, the Lungauer Tauernkrone is as diverse as the Lungau.
A breathtaking mountain landscape, 18 huts with hearty alpine cuisine and 16 crystal-clear mountain lakes await you along the route.
The route can be hiked or run in 7 different stages and there are also day tours for families.


How it works:



In order to respect the closed seasons for wild animals, the checkpoints are only open from
June 1st to September 15th from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m
and from September 16th to October 1st from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Please refrain from any activities at dusk or at night!

Attention: Partial parallel use with mountain bike trails.

Dogs must be kept on a leash in pastures and in the forest!
