Salzburg's Lungau, a good 100 kilometers from Mozart's city of Salzburg, is not only the sunniest region in Austria,
but was also awarded the “UNESCO Biosphere Park Salzburg Lungau & Carinthian Nockberge” for the magnificent natural landscape.
The “Lungauer TAUERN KRONE” is a hiking & trail-running tour through the Niedere Tauern mountains along existing hiking paths.
With a total distance of 108 kilometers spanning 8,000 vertical meters, the Lungauer TAUERN KRONE ist truly unique.
Wheter you experience the Lungauer TAUERN KRONE as famliy, recreational hiker or trail runner, this particular tour is every bit as diverse as the Lungau region. Breathtaking alpine landscapes, 18 mountain huts serving hearty, regional specialties, and 16 crystal-clear tarns await your arrival along the way. You can hike or run the route in 7 seperate stages, with day tours in particular for families.
At checkpoints along the route, you can use the "SummitLynx " app to earn points which are redeemable for the Lungauer TAUERN KRONE Hike & Trail badges in Gold, Silver and Bronze.
In order to respect the closed seasons for wild animals, the checkpoints are only active between
June 1st to September 15th from 8 am to 7 pm,
and between September 16th to October 1st from 8 am to 5 pm.
(Avoid hiking during twilight an nighttime hours! )
Important: In some cases, trails are also used by mountain bikers.
Dogs must be kept on a leash in livestock grazing areas and forests!
